Q. What's the cost of the land?
The price is $50,000/acre for the East Side Park and $70,000/acre and up on the West Side Park. We're also willing to lease the land on long-term leases. This will save on your capital costs. And remember, if you're one of our first tenants, you'll have a great opportunity to choose the number of acres that suits your needs. We can create parcels for you ranging from 2 acres to 50 acres to 100 acres – but you need to tell us you're coming – and soon!
Q. When will the land be ready? How soon can I move in?
We have site-ready parcels right now.
Q. Do you offer space for corporate jets?
Yes, we currently have hangar space for 8 jets. The new Industrial Park will offer additional hangar space with direct access to the primary runway.
We also have land available for personal hangar sites.
Q. When I look at your map, I see hills and am not sure how to build on that site?
Not to worry! Here in West Virginia, we've got a lot of experience in leveling small hills into flat spaces. The ground will be leveled as part of our preparations for the Industrial Park and be ready for you to start your site preparation.
Q. What telecommunications options will be available in the park?
We're building a 21st century Industrial Park in Beckley – complete with all the bells and whistles! Our plan is to offer broadband and fiber optic telecommunications services, 100% digital switching, ISDN, T-1 and T-3 lines within the Industrial Park.
Appalachian Power, our local utility and a subsidiary of American Electric Power, has formalized its intent to supply the IP with as much power as is needed.
Currently, both single-phase and 3-phase power are available.
Q. What about the weather, especially in winter?
We do get snow in winter, but our commercial completion factor is 95-97%.
We're also at 2500 feet above sea level, which means less fog. (As a matter of fact, we get diversions from nearby airports in lower areas.)
In the last seven years, the airport's been completely shut down twice – once, during a complete regional power outage, and once, during a fluke winter storm that brought 5 feet of snow too quickly! In both instances, the airport was closed for less than 12 hours.
(And on the plus side, having winter means having spring, summer, and fall – four distinct seasons with ever-changing landscapes and varying recreational opportunities – all adding to our great quality of life!)
Q. What emergency services are available?
All emergency services are handled through the 911 call center. We have a quick response from the Sheriff's Department and WV State Police, dispatched through 911.
In addition, the airport maintains its own fire truck and airport personnel are trained in emergency fire procedures. We hold regular fire drills in the airport community and are prepared to meet any emergency.
Q. Do you offer fuel for jets and propeller airplanes?
Yes, fuel is available 24/7 and often at less expensive prices than elsewhere in the region. You can always check our home page for current fuel prices.
